On Friday 25th April Sabumnim Michael Nguyen flew to Sydney to attend Master Andrew Rhee’s International Instructors Course. He was hosted by good friend and Taekwon-Do sister Miss Marion Sherlock.
Day 1 was kicked started with Master Rhee facilitating the group to analyse fundamental movement, sine wave and intermediate positions of our Taekwon-Do techniques. This was followed by in-depth coverage of coloured belt patterns techniques and application. The majority of the afternoon was dedicated to black belt patterns 1st-6th Dan. It was great to see Tong-Il being performed by Mr Ian Britton of New Zealand. The day finished with revision of step sparring and why it is important not to forget step sparring when teaching ITF Taekwon-Do. That night, all participants gathered for a feast at the Secret Garden Thai Restaurant with Master Rhee. It was great to catch up with old and new friends.
Day 2 Commenced with a revision of yesterday’s patterns and we continued to work on the intermediate positions of two different movements. We continued to progress through Dan patterns under Master Rhee’s instructions received very useful corrections. We ended the Day with step sparring followed by a brief but meaningful question and answer segment.
After the seminar concluded. Master Rhee conducted a grading where Miss Boulton-Smith and Miss Elaine Ogden tested for 3rd Dan. Sabumnim Michael Nguyen was asked to assist with sparring and board breaking. Congratulations to both of them for their exceptional display of ITF Taekwon-Do. Very well deserved promotions.
